Alpana Dange, Research Director (Consulting) at the Humsafar Trust, has been working in the field of Social Development and Public Health for the last 28 years, of these she has spent 23 years working with the LGBTQ+ Community and key populations at risk for HIV. Alpana plays the role of a researcher, master trainer, health communication expert, strategic planner and policy advisor to strengthen the Humsafar Trust’s core work on LGBTQ+ people’s health and human rights. She has founded and led initiatives like UNAIDS funded “Samajh– A Covid Awareness Campaign for LGBTQ+” and “Prabal–LGBTQ+ Parents Empowerment Program." Alpana is a PI on India’s largest HIV Self Testing demonstration project in the year 2021-23. Alpana has authored several articles which have been published in peer reviewed journals. She is Masters in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and M. Phil from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
